A Letter from Wilson Foster

Dear Potential New Members,

Welcome to Gamma Phi Beta at THE Ohio State University! We are the Beta Xi chapter of Gamma Phi, originally installed at OSU in 1951, and re-established in 2014. My name is Wilson Foster and I have the privilege and honor of being our chapter’s Collegiate President this year! I could not be more excited to welcome you to our sisterhood, so let me tell you a little bit about my experience in our sorority!

The relationship that I valued most in my childhood, and still do to this day, is the one I have with my older sister. I didn’t think it would be possible to imitate that bond in any future relationship, but I found exactly that when I joined Gamma Phi Beta.

I met the most genuine and sincere women when I went through formal recruitment in Spring of 2024, and I instinctively knew that I had found home. I formed many bonds with girls I talked with throughout recruitment and it made me want to return to GPhi. At the same time, I also met so many fellow PNMs from all walks of life who were going through recruitment at the same time. My advice to you as a PNM is to lean on the girls that are also going through recruitment, but stay true to yourself in
your decision making.

Throughout my time in Gamma Phi so far, I have gained best friends, roommates,
connections, and memories that I know will continue to last and carry me throughout my life. I spent countless nights chatting it up with my sophomore year roommate, when I lived in our chapter house. I have spent numerous hours studying with sisters who were taking the same classes as I was at the time. I have been truly and constantly supported by these girls since the moment I walked through the pink front door at 43 E 14th for the first time!

Our values of love, labor, learning, and loyalty have led each and every one of our members to be successful in their own ways and guided them to opportunities they might otherwise not have had. The level of confidence I have now versus before joining this chapter has increased exponentially, and that is due to the strength and bonds of our sisterhood. I could not be more grateful for the women in GPhi that have shaped my life so far and I can’t wait to see how they continue to impact my life and how I impact theirs!
