ABOUT PHA

The Ohio State University has maintained a strong Greek community for over 140 years. There are currently over 3,700 students who are active members in Sorority & Fraternity Life organizations on campus. All organizations are governed by one of four councils: the Interfraternity Council, the Multicultural Greek Council, the National Pan-Hellenic Council, and the Panhellenic Association. The Greek Programming Board also supports the Sorority & Fraternity Life community.

The Panhellenic Association (PHA) serves as the governing body for 15 National Panhellenic Conference chapters and two affiliate chapters on campus. There are currently around 2,300 students who are active members in the Panhellenic community. PHA is both the largest Greek council and the largest women's student organization on campus. As a council, we advocate for the growth of our members, chapters, and community. Panhellenic membership at The Ohio State University is based upon four core values: scholarship, sisterhood/siblinghood, leadership, and service.

PHA is led by an Executive Council, which is composed of elected leaders who belong to different Panhellenic and affiliate chapters. The Executive Council supports our chapters, enforces our policies and procedures, and ensures our members receive an inclusive and enriching experience. We seek to strengthen the Panhellenic community through promotion of positive values such as authenticity and inclusivity.

PANHELLENIC CREED

We, as Undergraduate Members of women’s fraternities, stand for good scholarship, for guarding of good health, for maintenance of fine standards, and for serving, to the best of our ability, our college community. Cooperation for furthering fraternity life, in harmony with its bets possibilities, is the ideal that shall guide our fraternity activities. We, as Fraternity Women, stand for service through the development of character, inspired by the close contact and deep friendship of individual fraternity and Panhellenic life. The opportunity for wide and wise human service, through mutual respect and helpfulness, is the tenet by which we strive to live.

SISTERHOOD

The Panhellenic Association aspires to make every member feel safe and welcome in our community. Each chapter is full of individually unique members with diverse backgrounds. No organization is the same, but all share a common bond of unconditional support and sisterhood/siblinghood. Each chapter builds sisterhood/siblinghood through weekly chapter meetings, character development, internal events, and everyday interactions.

SCHOLARSHIP

The Panhellenic Association requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 in order to be eligible for active membership. Additional requirements vary between each chapter. Historically, the average cumulative GPA for undergraduate students in Sorority & Fraternity Life has been higher than the average for all undergraduate students. Many members are involved in research projects, class honorary societies, and internships.

LEADERSHIP

The Panhellenic Association provides many opportunities for leadership development. Members hold leadership positions in their own chapters, on our Executive Council, and in the greater Ohio State community. We are involved in countless organizations outside of Sorority & Fraternity Life: Undergraduate Student Government, Varsity Athletics, Ohio Union Activities Board, BuckeyeThon, and University Ambassadors, to name a few! Sorority & Fraternity Life yields access to leadership skills and experiences that are instrumental to change-making both during and after college.

PHILANTROPY

The Panhellenic Association strives to better our community through philanthropic events that benefit a multitude of causes. Panhellenic members host sporting tournaments, food sales, carnival games, and many more fundraising events throughout the year.  Each chapter also has its own philanthropic focus and partners. They fundraise for organizations such as: St. Jude Children's Hospital, Domestic Violence Awareness, Sharsharet, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Girls on the Run, and Fighting Hunger. Philanthropy is a major source of unity amongst Panhellenic members, and we love to support each other's fundraising.
